Dear mike
How exciting. This is the first time I might have found a new lead. Our
ggggrandfather was John William Milam-B-c-1820-Halifax Co.He M.Susan Elizabeth
Wilmouth Chaney 1844 in Pittslyvania Co. His father was Harris Milam
and Mary_____ they were mar. in Person Co.NCin 1813.His other son that

Did your William who was adopted assume his adopted name of Gill?In
case you didnt' know, Charlotte, Halifax, Person and Pittslyvania Co s
are almost side by side. On another matter, are you familiar with
Robert M Wilbanks? He is writing a book on the Milams and puts out a Milam

George had married Jane (Jinsey) Crafton in Charlotte County Virginia on

direct line ancestor.

book is by Jack Baber and is entitled the History of Greene County Indiana.

Dear Mike and Deb,
Thank you very much for this fascinating account of Elizabeth.
I havn't read it all yet but have found more
confirmation about William's siblings that prove our George Milam's
descent. This account names, Armon, as a brother.
Interesting. Armon married a Chipman.
Did you receive my attempt to summarize our research? Let me know what you think about it. Errors? etc. Hope you received it in the mail.
Also, I hope you got the probate material for George Milam, Sr.
Note that Armon's last name is Chipman.
Draper Chipman had several children. He was the minister of their
church, the Heddings Chapel Church,
Methodist Episcopal. Somewhere I have his children listed.
Can't find it yet.
I believe that another child of George and Jinsey Milam was named, Margaret.
I am trying to confirm this.
Frankie Hammond, Florida, another descendant of George Milam, Jr.
wrote a history of her ancestors but
found only 7 children of George and Jinsey. One was Margaret,
m: 1 Dec 1837, Greene Co, IN to Hugh
Livingston. I found her report in the Owen Co, History Publication
of 1994, pg 240.
Glad to hear from you. Hope all is well with you.
Regards,
Jack Neff

Mike,
Thank you for the baptismal dates of William for Armon, John, and Thompson Milam. I had assumed that these baptisms were after George's death. This certainly suggests that these were infant deaths.
I have always felt that there were more than ten children born to George
and Jinsey; particularly estimating the birth years. Since
my census records are for the years prior to 1850, the children are only
listed by age groupings. I must go back now and reevaluate
the groupings. Clearly, there was an early female death.
Possibly, Armon??
Robert Wilbanks believed that they had a total of 13 children. I have identified 10, hence, the baptismal children would add three more. So these three, John, Thompson, Armon would fill in that early period.
Looking forward to seeing your web page.
Regards,
Jack Neff
